Your Irvine Spine and Sport Chiropractor can improve the function of nearly any joint in the body (shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands, hips, knees, ankles and feet) – Chiropractic Adjustments are not just limited to the correction of spinal joints.

In essence, Chiropractic Adjustments can add a spring to your step, yardage to your drive, “life” to your years, and everything in between.

Scientific studies have shown chiropractic care to be far saferthan the most commonly recommended medications for body aches and pains: over-the-counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS).

Orange County Active Release Technique

Many massage therapy techniques have been developed over the centuries to combat a variety of problems seen by the Chiropractors of Irvine Spine and Sport. Several of these techniques are used extensively by our doctors and their staff of therapists. One of the most renowned and effective is the active release technique. Active release therapy was first created a little over 30 years ago. It focuses on relieving pain and introducing mobility back from injuries resulting from overuse.

What Is The Active Release Technique?

The typical treatment involves the doctor applying precise tension in combination with specific patient movements. Treatment is an interactive process involving both the doctor and the patient. Therefore, every Active Release Technique treatment session is a unique combination of both examination and treatment. No two sessions are alike as they are composed to target and cure the specific ailment causing the patient pain.

Active Release Technique (ART) – an advanced soft-tissue management system

Conditions Treated With ART

Muscles play an important role in both stabilizing and moving the joints of the body. One of the most debilitating forms of muscle dysfunction is a muscle spasm which is the body’s response to protect an injured body part from further harm. Injuries that result from over-used muscles often respond well to the Active Release Technique, a soft-tissue treatment method that often provides immediate and dramatic results.

The reason it works well with overuse injuries is that these injuries cause scar tissue to build up near the distressed region. Active release therapy works to break up and get rid of the scar tissue as it is not as optimal as regular tissue.

Once the area is free from scar tissue, the patient will experience relief, increased strength, and greater mobility. Headaches, low back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, surgery scars, shin splints, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, iliotibial band (ITB) friction syndrome, rotator cuff problems, knee pain, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and effectively with this treatment. This technique is a patented, state-of-the-art soft tissue (muscles, ligaments, fascia, and nerve) therapy system.

How Long Does ART Take To Work?

Patients often notice an improvement in their levels of pain, flexibility, and strength within seconds of completing their very first treatment. For some people, one treatment is enough while for others they may need up to 3 different visits to get full relief. The majority of people only need 3 or fewer treatments.

Is It Covered By Insurance?

Check with your insurance provider before scheduling an appointment to see if it is covered.

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy

Some of the most severe neck and low back symptoms are caused by Disc Bulges, Herniated Discs, Ruptured Discs and Degenerative Disc Disease.

When the discs of the spine become degenerated or misshapen they commonly exert painful, debilitating pressure on the spinal cord or the nerve roots that exit at the back of the spine. This can lead to numbness, tingling, sharp pain or burning in the arms or legs. One of the most common symptoms associated with a Bulging Disc or Disc Herniation is called Sciatica – usually described as sharp pain that “shoots”straight down the back of the leg to the foot.

Prior to Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression the degenerative disc sufferer had only two main options:
1) cover up the symptoms with medication or risky injections or,
2) repair the disc with invasive procedures like surgery.
With the recent technological advance that is Spinal Decompression there is now a third option that is far better than drugs or surgery for the vast majority of neck and low back pain sufferers!
