Chiropractic Yelp Review: “He has really helped my back and my sciatica pain…”

Everyone here is fantastic!  Dr Parker is the chiropractor I see myself, and he has really helped my back and my sciatica pain TREMENDOUSLY.  I did have to go quite often until everything seemed under control/healed.  Now it is only every few weeks or once a month that I go in.  Dr. Parker is compassionate and knowledgeable.  He worked hard to figure out what was wrong and gave me lots of ideas on how to manage my “injury” at home.  Wendy has been my massage therapist most times, and she is fabulous.  Victor, the office manager, is just great!  He is funny, friendly, positive, helpful, and an excellent gatekeeper.  The other office staff and doctors seem fabulous as well.  Prices are reasonable, especially for those of us who have to pay out of pocket.!

Chiropractic Yelp Review: “Dr Twombly gives a thorough adjustment…”

I found Dr Twombly through Yelp. I am so glad that I did. I stopped seeing a chiropractor years ago because I was tired of “the hustle”. Dr Twombly (and staff) are true professionals that genuinely care about your health and recovery. I’ve treated 5 times and am on the path to feeling brand new. Dr Twombly gives a thorough adjustment- from my feet to my neck. My balance is better, my strength has increased and I’ve seen much improvement in my condition. The office is very close to my home, which is wonderful, but I would follow Dr Twombly anywhere. I am very satisfied and feel as though I’ve found a home for my chiropractic needs.

Chiropractic Yelp Review: “Love this place! I trusted my fellow Yelpers….”

Love this place!  I trusted my fellow Yelpers because I needed a local chiropractor STAT!  I was not disappointed.  Dr. Erickson is just as great as all the other reviewers say.  Friendly, informative, gets right to the root of your issue.  I felt so much better after just one adjustment, and am feeling great after 2!  I have also seen Chris, the massage therapist twice now, and his massages are amazing!  Deep tissue – just what I needed!  As it turns out, my company actually has Dr. Parker and Chris come to our annual Employee Expo and has for years.  I highly recommend anyone in this office!  Everyone is super friendly!

Chiropractic Yelp Review: “Dr. Twombly patiently listened to my concerns….”

Pain is an unfortunate part of my life and I was looking for a chiropractor that had Saturday hours. The very nice receptionist said I could come in right away. He was very pleasant and professional.

I saw Dr. Twombly and he patiently listened to my concerns and pointed out in the mirror the misalignment of my hips and shoulders as a result from my scoliosis.  He adjusted my spine and then I went to another room to get muscle work done. Fernando (and Chris on a subsequent visit) did a very good job of loosening up my “back of concrete”. Afterward, Dr. Twombly adjusted my spine again. Most chiropractors won’t adjust you before AND after a massage. In addition, Dr. Erikson came in and gave my spine another adjustment. Truly exceptional chiropractors who work as a team to provide their patients with the best care.

Chiropractic Yelp Review: “Dr. Twombly really did help me feel a million times better….”

Okay so I’m a skeptic when it comes to doctors. But I had a really bad fall while ice skating and Dr. Twombly really did help me feel a million times better. Victor up at the desk is super friendly and kind. Dr. Twombly made me laugh and he has a great demeanor.  Chris was super professional with the deep tissue massage and for the first time I’m sitting normal since my accident!!! The best part is they educate you and give your mind a workout as well. I’m so grateful to everyone who helped me and look forward to my next visit!!! Thanks!

Chiropractic Yelp Review: “Dr. Twombly educated me on why I was….”

I’ve never been to a chiropractor before but my chronic neck and shoulder pain was so bad that I couldn’t turn my head or lift my arms without experiencing significant pain, so I finally decided to see one. I found this office through Yelp and I was able to get a same day appointment.

I saw Dr. Twombly and after some adjustments and massage therapy, I am now able to move without any pain.  Dr. Twombly educated me on why I was experiencing neck and shoulder pain and he taught me exercises on how to strengthen specific muscles to help prevent it.

All the staff in this office are extremely pleasant and knowledgeable and it’s very easy to make an appointment.

Chiropractic Yelp Review: “I highly recommend it in every respect….”

This really is about “as good as it gets.”  I have been going to physical therapists, massage therapists,  and receiving chiropractic treatment on and off over the decades on both coasts, and I have never been to a place where the level of professionalism is as high as this, coupled with a true community atmosphere of friendliness — I would even say kindness — throughout the entire office.

I first started going there a few years ago with a shoulder injury, and I was immediately struck by the approach of Dr. Ken Erickson, who takes a remarkably intellectual approach combined with a natural curiosity, plus a dogged determinism to get to the bottom of any given issue.  He is not only a chiropractor, but a master of what is known as Active Release Therapy, which is a remarkable set of techniques that work so very well when you “pull” this or that muscle, or joint.  He has an almost uncontrollable urge to communicate precisely what he knows — this is rare in the medical profession — and if you take an active interest in the mechanism of your body, and like to learn, you will really appreciate this approach.

I’m the kind of guy who still, at this late juncture of life,  thinks he’s not much older than his 12-year old and so I find myself crashing here and there on skateboards, or surfboards, or rock-climbing with a little too much enthusiasm – all leading to the periodic injury.  The latest escapade was a surfing accident on hard sand that resulted in an extruded disc, causing pretty severe stenosis — in English this means that disc is broken and the gel-like substance inside leaked out and up my spinal column, pinching the heck out of the main nerve.  Ouch.  Seriously.  Dr. Ken pointed me in the right direction on the very first visit, wasting not a moment, and when the MRI came back it was clear what had happened and where the pain was coming from.  I was truly debilitated – I could barely walk.

Instead of surgery I opted for what is known as spinal decompression.  This is something I had tried about a decade or so ago for mild degenerative disc disease, and it helped remarkably.  This time it has worked wonders.  Without any surgery at all — just chiropractic treatments three times a week followed by spinal decompression, I am pain free. It doesn’t seem possible – especially when you look at my MRI, but it’s true.  I feel some tightness here and there, but nothing like it was about two months ago.  I think I’m about 3/4 through the treatment, and it’s just amazing.

But outside of my own personal story, I just have to say that you cannot do better if you have typical orthopedic issues, and seek immediate, as well as long-lasting relief. With respect to the entire office itself, and the people in it — just a great group of people all around.  Everyone in the office pitches in to help people.  You can’t get better than that.  I highly recommend it in every respect.

Chiropractic Yelp Review: “He is also great at what he does…”

VICTOR IS AWESOME!!

I started coming here while pregnant 10 months ago. The front office staff has always been great. Victor is always professional and over all fun to work with when making appointments etc. He is also great at his massages (therapy) and will make sure you are comfortable, and that the pressure is right. Over all a great, happy person to be around.

I see Dr Erikson. He is also great at what he does, is very thorough and explains anything you may have questions on. While pregnant the treatments were very helpful!

The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that the appointment times are not always on time. Actually, they are rarely on time. I usually end up waiting around 20 minutes for my appointment. This is difficult when making other plans for the day.

Chiropractic Yelp Review: “Dr. Parker has a much better technique…”

After just moving to Irvine I am grateful to Yelp for helping me find Dr. Parker at Irvine Spine and Sport. I have had many adjustments before and thought that they would all be the same but Dr. Parker has a much better technique! He also very patiently explained everything to me and never pressured me into more visits. I did take his advice and added massages from Daniel which made a HUGE difference! This office is great and a special thanks to Victor at the front desk for always being so pleasant!

Chiropractic Yelp Review: “I would like to give Dr. Erickson full credit…”

Brace yourself because you are about to read the world’s longest Yelp review:

I have been procrastinating this review for quite some time (2.5 years exactly) because I knew I would ramble and would struggle to condense my appreciation to a short paragraph. So I’m not going to condense, I’m going to ramble.

MY STORY…
As a dental hygienist, I am constantly putting myself in terrible ergonomic positions multiple times a day. I rely heavily on this practice to keep me from going into early retirement.

WHY THIS OFFICE IS GREAT….
I have seen all three doctors to some extent but have mostly worked with Dr. Erickson. I know each doctor has his own strengths and I love that they often utilize each other’s expertise to complete a patients adjustment. Dr Erickson has had me switch to Dr. Parker so that he could do a particular adjustment that he’s really good at. They are known to do this from time to time. (No ego here… Just a united team working together to give their patients the best treatment)

WHY I GAVE BIRTH IN UNDER 3 HOURS…
I would like to give Dr. Erickson full credit for helping me keep sane during my second pregnancy. I started seeing him because of tailbone pain that my previous chiropractor could never sort out. I had pretty moderate pubic symphysis dysfunction which basically caused me to waddle as early as my 4th month of pregnancy. Turning over in my sleep caused terrible pain and I was getting stuck in the middle of the night, requiring me to kick my husband awake to help me shift (that was fun). After a few visits with Dr. Erickson, I noticed major improvements in my movement and walk. I continued to see him throughout my pregnancy up until the last week before delivery. My body was in such great alignment that I no longer had pain when walking. Dr. Erickson explained that because of the hormone Relaxin, a woman’s body is very responsive to chiropractic care. I know my consistent care is what helped me push that baby out in less than three hours!! My first child took 14 hours. Coincidence? I think not.

DR ERICKSON IS INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU OF CHIROPRACTIC CARE
Don’t ever expect him to say something like “I’m going to do this adjustment because your leg is an inch off”… Oh no, no no. It will be more like “your leg is probably an inch off because you tend to lean on your right side when sitting in your chair and when you lean to that side you are putting extra strain to your Psoas muscle causing you to overcompensate….” And off he goes into another dimension. To find the source of my every ache is his personal mission and he will never be satisfied with giving me an adjustment and sending me on my way. He will check and recheck to make sure I’m at a minimum 50-70% better than when I walked in.

HE SURPRISES ME EVERY TIME…
I will walk into his office for my regular maintenance visits and will casually mention a random pain in my knee, or elbow, or index finger, or a numb sensation in my left toe… Never imagining that he will be able to find the exact location where the issue is arising from. I once had some discomfort in my right wrist and after doing a couple of strength tests in my shoulder and arm he was able to determine that the wrist pain was entirely related to my shoulder and neck. Ummm, whaaaaa????#Magician/X-Ray vision/chiropracticscientist

NO RUN OF THE MILL ADJUSTMENTS HERE…
I like that all the chiropractors combine adjustments with active release techniques.  I’ve never had any other chiropractor do this. Interestingly, sometimes the muscle needs more work than the spine.

MASSAGE THERAPISTS WILL MAKE YOU FEEL AMAZING AND YET YOU WANT TO PUNCH THEM IN THE FACE AT THE SAME TIME.
I typically prefer deep tissue massages over any shee-shee spa place. I have had plenty of massages in my life and almost always need to request firmer pressure. NOT here! I am terrified of having either Chris, Wendy, or Daniel find a muscle knot. When they do, I just hold onto dear life and try to distract them with personal questions (I think they have finally figured me out). They all have a natural ability to find the source of tension and work it out. Either that, or they all have some major anger issues and need to get on the yoga train! Namaste.

VICTOR, VICTOR, VICTOR
Every medical office in the country needs a Victor. Don’t let his seductive telephone voice get you… He’s married and has like 13 kids! In all seriousness, he is one of the nicest, calmest, funniest front office managers I have ever met. His name needs to be on the window of the practice, because he truly is the backbone of this office (please note my awesome spine reference).

If you have read my review in its entirety, please stop. Don’t waste any more time. Just make the appointment already. You won’t be disappointed.
